Beauty tips for You

“It's beauty that captures attention, and its personality that captures heart"

Many of us are skin conscious. We often want our skin to look young and healthy and we really do something just to protect our skin from whatever possible harms there may be in our environment. Well, our skin is our largest organ performing several functions.

Protect your skin from sun:

Use sunscreen. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. When you're outdoors, reapply sunscreen every two hours — or more often if you're swimming or perspiring.
Seek shade. Avoid the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when the sun's rays are strongest.
Wear protective clothing. Cover your skin with tightly woven long-sleeved shirts, long pants and wide-brimmed hats. Also consider laundry additives, which give clothing an additional layer of ultraviolet protection for a certain number of washings, or special sun-protective clothing — which is specifically designed to block ultraviolet rays.

Treat your skin gently:

Limit bath time. Hot water and long showers or baths remove oils from your skin. Limit your bath or shower time, and use warm — rather than hot — water.
Avoid strong soaps. Strong soaps and detergents can strip oil from your skin. Instead, choose mild cleansers.
Shave carefully. To protect and lubricate your skin, apply shaving cream, lotion or gel before shaving. For the closest shave, use a clean, sharp razor. Shave in the direction the hair grows, not against it.
Pat dry. After washing or bathing, gently pat or blot your skin dry with a towel so that some moisture remains on your skin.
Moisturize dry skin. If your skin is dry, use a moisturizer that fits your skin type. For daily use, consider a moisturizer that contains SPF.

Manage stress:

Uncontrolled stress can make your skin more sensitive and trigger acne breakouts and other skin problems. To encourage healthy skin — and a healthy state of mind — take steps to manage your stress. Set reasonable limits, scale back your to-do list and make time to do the things you enjoy. The results might be more dramatic than you expect.

Eat healthy diet:

A healthy diet can help you look and feel your best. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. The association between diet and acne isn't clear — but some research suggests that a diet rich in vitamin C and low in unhealthy fats and processed or refined carbohydrates might promote younger looking skin.

What are Freckles?

These are small flat tanned spots that can appear on the skin. Most of the time, they get no bigger than the head of a nail. These spots can multiple over time, and they can develop randomly on the skin for no real reason. Although, there are some things that can cause freckles to appear more often. For example, too much exposure to the sun can cause a lot of freckles.
So who can get freckles? As many of you already know, freckles can appear on just about anyone. This includes both men and women. Not only that, but they appear on people of all ages. Although people say that freckles do tend to appear more at a younger age.

* Exfoliate the skin at least once or twice a week which will help to remove dead and sun-damaged skin cells on your skin. The new cells under the skin wouldn’t have had much sun exposure and they will still have freckles which will be very lighter.
* Use a skin lightening cream on the skin as they contain lot of different ingredients including Burberry extract, hydroquinone, liquor ice extract and mulberry extract which can help to reduce dark spots on the skin.
* Spread a vitamin C serum on your freckles which has is expected to have been very effective in lightening dark spots. It can also brighten the skin’s overall complexion.
* Consult a dermatologist who can give a prescription to prevent freckles. Try to use more intense bleaching creams as they can help to fade freckles during regular application.
* Try to do photo facials which is a treatment that use laser light to fade the freckles. The light will target the pigment in freckles and break them apart. The pigment will be reabsorbed into the body which can give dramatically lighter freckles.
* You can also try an all-natural, home remedies to reduce the freckles. Use lemon juice, tomato juice, honey, sour milk, buttermilk and onions which have been shown to reduce the freckles.

What is an Acne?

Acne is a skin condition that causes pimples or "zits." This includes whiteheads, blackheads, and red, inflammed patches of skin.

 SELF-CARE

Steps you can take to help your acne:
                  * Clean your skin gently with a mild, nondrying soap (such as Dove, Neutrogena, Cetaphil, CeraVe, or Basics). Remove all dirt or make-up. Wash once or twice a day, including after exercising. However, avoid scrubbing or repeated skin washing.
                   * Shampoo your hair daily, especially if it is oily. Comb or pull your hair back to keep the hair out of your face.

What NOT to do:

                   * Try not to squeeze, scratch, pick, or rub the pimples. Although it might be tempting to do this, it can lead to skin infections and scarring.
                   * Avoid wearing tight headbands, baseball caps, and other hats
                   * Avoid touching your face with your hands or fingers.
*Avoid greasy cosmetics or creams. Take off make-up at night. Look for water-based or "noncomedogenic" formulas. Noncomedogenic products have been tested and proven not to clog pores and cause acne.

If these steps do not clear up the blemishes, try over-the-counter acne medications. You apply these products directly to your skin.

                 * They may contain benzoyl peroxide, sulfur, resorcinol, or salicylic acid.
                 * They work by killing bacteria, drying up skin oils, or causing the top layer of your skin to peel.
                 * They may cause redness or peeling of the skin.

A small amount of sun exposure may improve acne a little, but mostly it just hides the acne. However, too much exposure to sunlight or ultraviolet rays is not recommended because it increases the risk for skin cancer.

Beauty regime for soft and lustrous hair

If you have the time and resilience, you can try the following natural beauty therapies for soft, lustrous, healthy hair.

Herbal vinegar rinse.
Prepare 200ml apple cider vinegar in a jar, add 3 tablespoons dried rosemary. Cover and allow to steep for 1 to 2 weeks, then strain the mixture. Use this as a final shampoo rinse, after the usual shampooing. Apple cider vinegar rebalances scalp pH and rosemary as an antiseptic, astringent and healing agent.

Banana treatment.
Bananas are full of nutrients and are good for treating dry, damaged and fragile hair. Just mash an over-ripe banana and work it through your hair. Cover your hair with a plastic shower cap for 30 minutes, then wash your hair thoroughly.

Avocado scrub.
Peel a ripe avocado, mix it with a teaspoon of wheat germ oil and a teaspoon of jojoba oil. Apply it to freshly washed hair and work it all the way to the ends. Cover your hair with a plastic shower cap for 15 to 30 minutes. Then rinse your hair thoroughly clean. Avocado moisturizes and strengthens hair shafts with protein.

Honey and egg hair mask.
Whisk 2 egg yolks with 3 tablespoons honey. Apply to your hair, let rest for 30 minutes under cover with a plastic shower cap. Then wash off with the usual shampoo. Egg yolk acts as an excellent moisturizing agent, while honey gives a rich gloss to your hair.

Mayonnaise scrub.
Instead of avocado, use mayonnaise as a good alternative. The egg in mayonnaise is a good source of protein for your hair. Apply to your hair, cover with a plastic shower cap for up to 1 hour. Then wash your hair thoroughly.

Deep-conditioning, hot-oil treatment.
Damp hair with warm water, then gently massage 2- 3 tablespoons of almond oil through your hair. Cover with a plastic shower cap and then wrap with warm towel for 15 minutes. Then wash hair thoroughly to remove the oil. Do this once a week.

Home-made hair conditioner.
Mix 60g olive oil and 60g aloe vera gel with 6 drops of rosemary and sandalwood essential oils. Apply into hair and leave for 1 hour, then rinse thoroughly. Olive oil is a natural emollient, aloe vera hydrates, while rosemary adds body and softness to your hair. Sandalwood gives your hair the smell of fresh fragrance.
